I NEED A COPY OF MY EXAM FOR MY SURGEON, WILL I BE CHARGED FOR A SET OF MY FILMS?

Please contact your physician for a copy of your report. If you have any questions about the report, they can help assist you further.

HOW DO I GET A COPY OF MY REPORT?

Call your physician and tell them about your problem. They may want to see you first. They will usually give you an order for a diagnostic mammogram. Make sure that you bring your order with you or that your doctor’s office faxes the order to us.

IF I FIND A LUMP IN MY BREAST, WHAT SHOULD I DO

Yes, let us know at the time of the exam, the names and office locations of each of the doctors.

IF I HAVE MULTIPLE PHYSICIANS THAT NEED A COPY OF MY REPORT, CAN YOU SEND IT TO THEM?

A full bladder pushes the gas filled bowel out of the way and lets us view your pelvic organs. If you don’t have a well distended bladder, often we don’t get an adequate exam.

WHY DO I NEED A FULL BLADDER FOR A PELVIC ULTRASOUND EXAM

At Imaging for Women, we take care of you. You know your results before you leave our office. We always try to give your physician as much information as we can so that you can return to your physician for treatment. We provide a woman friendly, comfortable caring environment.

Mammogram FAQs Insurance/billing FAQs

The current recommendation from the American Cancer Society and many physician organization is to start at the age of forty and then yearly thereafter.

WHEN SHOULD I GET A MAMMOGRAM

For most women, mammograms are not painful.  At Imaging for Women, our caring and compassionate staff lets you be in control.  If compression is ever too much, let your technologist know and they will stop immediately.

WILL A MAMMOGRAM HURT

No. Although many cancers including early cancer can be detected mammographically, some can only be found with physical exam. Others, with ultrasound or other imaging modalities such as MRI of the breast.

WILL A MAMMOGRAM FIND EVERY CANCER

For a screening mammogram, yes you can.  But if you are experiencing any problems such as a lump or breast pain, you need to call your physician to give you an order for a diagnostic mammogram.

CAN I SCHEDULE A MAMMOGRAM MYSELF

We usually fax a completed report to your physician’s office in 1-2 hours. If you have a visit scheduled with your doctor immediately after our visit, please let us know so that we can expedite the report to your doctor’s office.

WHEN WILL MY DOCTOR RECEIVE THE RESULTS OF MY EXAM

It is extremely rare for an implant to rupture. We take special precautions to minimize any risk to you.

I HAVE BREAST IMPLANTS, WILL A MAMMOGRAM RUPTURE THEM?

A deductible is the cost share a patient’s insurance plan requires them to pay out of pocket before the insurance company is responsible for payment.  The amount varies by each individual plan and is a fixed amount for a plan (usually calendar) year. This can range from a small amount to upwards of $10,000 or more for a high deductible plan.

WHAT IS A DEDUCTIBLE

Coinsurance is a percentage cost share. This percentage is defined by the individual plan and may be in addition to a deductible cost share. It is common to see an 80/20 plan which means a patient is responsible for 20% of the contracted rate and the insurance is responsible for 80%.

WHAT IS A COINSURANCE

We offer a Special Services Program to our patients that do not have insurance. We do not submit these claims to insurance. These exams are offered at a discounted rate and payment is required before the exam is performed.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE INSURANCE

We do ask that deductibles and coinsurance amounts are paid when services are rendered.  Screening mammograms are typically not subject to either a deductible or coinsurance.

DO I HAVE TO PAY ON THE DAY OF MY EXAM

Call your insurance company and ask them. Every insurance plan is different. At the time you signed up for your insurance, you were given a statement of benefits which includes what is or isn’t covered.

HOW DO I KNOW IF AN EXAM IS COVERED BY MY INSURANCE

We have the ability to run online estimation for your insurance policy. This allows us to know an estimated amount that you may be responsible for after insurance processes.  This amount is an estimation only; actual dollar amounts may vary when a claim in fully processed.

HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I WILL OWE

We make refunds a top priority for our patients. If your insurance pays more on a claim than our estimate, we will refund you promptly by check or refund your credit card if that was used for payment.

WHAT IF INSURANCE PAYS MORE THAN THEY ESTIMATE

Our financial policy requires the balance to be paid off within four months with a minimum monthly payment of $50.00. Your credit card can be registered securely and have the monthly amount withdrawn on a date of your choosing- as long as it is within 7 – 10 days from the date of service.

DO YOU OFFER A PAYMENT PLAN

We work with a program called MetroCARE that assists people that do not have insurance and do not have the ability to pay.
